Meet Recaps

DM A Champs (Feb 20 – 22)

Approximately 60 DM swimmers competed at Loos to take one more crack at knocking down some more A times, some TAGS cuts, and even some Sectional cuts.  Since many were going for specific cuts most of our swimmers only swam 1 day of the meet.  We still finished 5th out of 18 teams despite not swimming any relays or with what definitely could be called a “partial squad.”  We hosted a great meet and were glad we didn’t run both the A and the BB meets at the same time again!

Below is a list of those Mustangs who scored points for the team.  Congratulations to those that made best times and especially to those that made new time standards!

Chris Alkire (15), Rebecca Brandt (9), Michelle Chow (40), Erin Florence (14), Tiffany Futscher (11), Des Godfrey (16), Audrey Gruber (12), Jacey Hodan (15), Alvin Jiang (10), Pauli Kerr (10), Caitlin Koranda (15), Jordan Malone (10), Madeleine Marcos (13), Alyssa McElya (15), Logan McGill (13), Will McNamara (16), Connor Mullen (12), Kenzie Murphy (12), Lauren Murski (13), Jeffrey Nichols (15), Connor Nolan (16), Alex Ober (10), Blake Osborn (15), Natalie Rathjen (13), Alex Robinson (15), Nicholas Saliba (18), Graham Smitham (17), Jeremy Steward (17), Andrew Tran (18), Harrison Tran (13), Jasper Van Cauwelaert (10), Claire Walters (13), Max Walters (16), Keegan Watters (16), Michelle Wessman (12)

TRS BB Champs (Feb 27 – Mar 1)

We traveled out to Grapevine for TRS’s BB Champs and had a great meet.  Almost all of our forty-four swimmers achieved at least one best time.  A few even got TAGS cuts at this meet!  We finished 6th in a tightly bunched team race out of twenty-one teams.  Those that walked away with points for the team are listed below.  Great job Mustangs!

Parker Benn (9), Caroline Blaylock (11), Clare Donaldson (11), Kaitlin Dorey (14), Sara Granger (15), Farrell Guest (11), Jon Hoffman (15), Mason Kelly (11), Tara Lalvani (10), Jordan Malone (10), Mika Malouf (11), Alex McElya (11), Alyssa Moino (13), Gordon Montgomery (10), Natalie Morris (11), Whitney Pettijohn (11), Laura Rathjen (13), Charlie Shaw (12), Timothy Simenc (12), Annie Smith (16), Felix Van Cauwelaert (9), Jasper Van Cauwelaert (10), Jo Jo Veazey (12), Jake Watters (13), Elizabeth Wessman (9), William Wessman (11), Kristen Whitaker (12), Max Zotos (12).

LAC B/C Champs (Mar 6 – 8)

We had a nice team effort and showing at this LAC hosted meet at their new facility located in The Colony.  The Mustangs finished 4th out of 21 teams and had almost 70 kids show up to try and finish up the season with a bang!  That we did, all but one of our swimmers got at least one best time!

Below is the list of those whose efforts at these championships were worthy of awards and points for the team.  Nice job Mustangs!

2009 TAGS Short Course Championships (Mar 12 – 15)

The good news is that we swam great; the bad news is that we missed out on a coveted top ten finish by a scant 3.5 points.  We actually got knocked out in the last event of the meet after rallying past the 10th place team with 3 consecutive 2nd place relay finishes in the 10 & under boys, 10 and under girls, and the 13-14 girls.  Thanks to those of you who volunteered since North Texas was putting on the meet.

Those below qualified for this prestigious meet in at least one individual event.  Those whose names are bolded and in italics won at least one individual event.  The swimmers that are in italics only (not bolded) scored points at the meet.

Upcoming Swim Meets

The Mustangs are hosting the Texas Senior Circuit Meet at SMU this weekend and we are still in need of a few more volunteers.  This meet is smaller than most of the meets we host, so the sessions will be only for a few hours.  If you are available to help for a few hours this weekend, we would greatly appreciate your assistance!  Contact Jay Brandt or use the online signup form at http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=drvg4hc_8cgcqnmcq

to volunteer.  Remember, if your child is participating you must volunteer for at least one session.

The Annual DM Classic is our Fabulous Fun Summer Outdoor meet and we will be looking for many volunteers to make this meet a success again this year.  The meet will be held at SMU June 5 - 7, so please mark your calendars and come out and support the Mustangs!  Volunteer sign ups will be online the last week of June.

Go MUSTANGS!

Updated Volunteer Policy

As a reminder the following is a copy of our updated volunteer policy which took effect in January and was published in our January newsletter and was sent out separately via e-mail in January.

Every family is required to volunteer in at least one session per year at a Mustang hosted meet.  In addition, if your child is competing in a Mustang hosted meet you must work at least one session in that particular meet.  We host 5 meets a year, one B/C meet (October), two 'A' meets (February and May), one Senior Circuit meet (a higher level meet than the 'A' meets…June) and one summer league recreational meet (July).  Many of the 'A' swimmers will be competing in 3 of these meets which means those families must volunteer at 3 sessions.  If your child (specifically BB swimmers) does not compete in any of these 5 meets you still must volunteer at least one session in one of the meets.  All swimmers get the benefit of the coaches’ attention and all should be expected to volunteer.  If you do not sign up for a session our meet directors will assign you one.  If you do not show up your credit card will be charged $100 and you will be assigned a position at the next meet.

 Tuition Policy

The Dallas Mustangs is a competitive year round age-group swimming program.  As such we strive to provide consistent quality coaching and workout facilities.  To achieve this goal we establish pool rental contracts and salary commitments with our coaching staff for a full 12-month period.  The Dallas Mustangs Swim Team is not, and was not designed to be a swim program where swimmers drop in one month and out the next.  Flexibility has always been important to us.  We try to work with each family on the team and we will continue to do so.

Tuition may be paid annually or monthly.  Monthly Tuition must be paid via electronic bank draft or credit card only.  NO checks will be accepted at any pools or through the mail.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  Annual tuition may be paid by check submitted with your registration form.

·        Tuition is due from September through July.

·        Leave of Absence (LOA) is available only for injury and medical reasons.

·        There will be a $10.00 per month discount for the second and subsequent swimmers in the same family.  The fourth swimmer is free.

·        If dues are paid annually, there will be a $110.00 discount for the second swimmer and a $220.00 discount for the third swimmer. If there are more than 3 swimmers; the three highest tuition rates will be billed and the 4th and subsequent swimmers are free.

·        A swimmer transferring from another team must be in good standing with their old team.

·        Tuition is due the first of every month. There will be a $5.00 per family late fee after the 10th of the month for non-zero balance accounts.

·        There are no tuition refunds, tuition paid for the month or the year commits you for that period.

·        Written communication to the DM Treasurer is required to change or stop automatic billing.

·        The swimmer(s) may be barred from swimming if there is an aged account balance is excess of 60 days.

Any questions regarding billing should be addressed to the team treasurer via e-mail

Meet Entry Policy:

Meet entry fees will be paid by credit card only.  Your credit card will be charged monthly.  There will be a $1.00 surcharge per meet per swimmer added to the fee.  Meet entry fees will be charged separate from tuition charges.  All swimmers must maintain a current and up to date meet entry account.   Swimmers who do not provide valid credit card information for meet entry fees will not be allowed to enter swim meets.
