UIL Texas State Championship Results

In the Texas High School UIL Championships held in Austin on Feb 22^nd & 23^rd –

Mustang swimmers had a fantastic showing at finals bringing home a number of individual and relay medals at the State Championships held at UT-Austin.

The Highland Park (HP) High School Women’s Team, fueled by a number of DM swimmers, won their eighth consecutive 4A State Women’s Title. Congratulations to Megan Arnold, Alexandra Weber, Allison Arnold, Bolton Harris, Hannah Ferrin, Delaney Rolfe & Katie Streepey in their support of the HP victory. These DM Swimmer’s had a hand in - - yes this is not a typo - - 100% of the points scored by the state champions!

The Flower Mound High School Men’s Team, with DM swimmer Max Murphy leading the charge, finished with a team Silver with a 2^nd place team finish in the 5A State Men’s Title. Max’ contributions included point-scoring finals appearances in each of his individual events. Plus, Max swam on the Gold Medal State Champion 200 Free Relay and Silver Medal 400 Free Relay teams for Flower Mound.

Max Murphy – Flower Mound!

Max Murphy capped off a great High School swim career with a Silver Medal in the TX-5A 100 Back. Max also finaled and placed 5^th in the 100 Fly.

These swims follow his 2007 finals results of TX-5A Bronze in the100 Fly & Silver in the 100 Back.

Max will be attending Auburn University and swimming for the Tigers in the Fall.

Megan Arnold – Highland Park!

Megan Arnold completed her second year of competition at the Texas High School Championships with TX-4A Bronze Medals in the 200 IM and 500 Free.

This follows two appearances in finals in these same events for Megan in the 2007 Championship

Megan will be attending and swimming at Emory University this coming Fall.

Stephanie Martin – Dallas Wilson!

Stephanie Martin won Gold in the 100 Breast in the TX-4A Championships. Stephanie also made finals in the 100 Fly finishing 5^th

This caps a steady medal progression for Stephanie in the Breaststroke. In order by year Bronze, Silver, Silver – and now GOLD!!!

Stephanie will be attending and swimming at Western Kentucky University this coming school year.

AND, THE UNDERCLASSMEN WINNING MEDALS…

Matt Thompson – Jesuit Prep!

Matt Thompson, a Junior at Jesuit, won the Gold Medal in 100 Back in the TX-5A Championships. Matt made it a double medal day by scoring Silver in the 200 IM.

These extraordinary accomplishments were accented by BOTH swims setting new Texas High School records!

The double-gold represents a three-peat for Matt in these two events over his three years of competition. So far, Matt is 6 for 6 medaling in individual events!

Barrett Mark – Frisco!

Barrett, a Junior at Frisco competing in his first Texas High School championships, had a stellar meet. Barrett came away with a Gold Medal in 200 IM in the TX-4A Championships. He made it a double medal performance by winning a Silver Medal in the 500 Free.

Allison Arnold – Highland Park!

Allison Arnold, a Sophomore at HP, continued on the torrid pace she established during her Freshman season!

Allison won Gold medals in the TX-4A Championships in both the 200 and 500 Free. This makes Allison 4 for 4 in Gold Medal Swims thus far.

Caleb Veazey – Bryan Adams!

Caleb Veazey, a Junior at Bryan Adams, won the Bronze Medal in the 500 Free in the TX-5A Championships.

Jacey Hodan – Rockwall Heath!

Jacey Hodan, Freshman, won the Silver Medal in 100 Breast in the TX-4A Championships. Jacey was close behind DM Senior Stephanie Martin who won the Gold in this event.
